Valued Health Osteopathy
Osteopath in East Bentleigh
Valued Health Osteopathy consists of two Osteopaths – Kate Ellett and Tom McCormick. Both practitioners have their individual interests and experiences. Read their profiles below to learn a little more about them.
Dr. Kate Ellett (Osteopath)
Kate Ellett (Osteopath) is a fully qualified Osteopath and is registered with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.
She graduated from Victoria University in 2010 after completing her Masters Research investigating the effect of Osteopathic treatment on period pain. Kate has a history of low back pain and headaches herself and while she was completing high school she visited various manual therapists in the search for relief. It was during this time that she discovered Osteopathy where she appreciated the thorough and well-rounded care that she received.
Kate enjoys treating a variety of musculoskeletal conditions across all ages. She feels that it is important to educate patients in causative behaviours, aggravating factors and self-management strategies to complement her Osteopathic treatment. Kate particularly enjoys treating headaches and jaw dysfunctions where she finds her Osteopathic approach often provides relief. When treating headaches, Kate first performs an examination to determine if it is safe to treat her patient, then proceeds with a variety of musculoskeletal techniques to attempt to reduce their pain.
Kate has also performed further training in Clinical Pilates and as such brings this experience into her consultations. Kate frequently utilises this training in her treatment of low back pain, postural complaints and pre/ post pregnancy. She frequently incorporates Pilates based exercises within her regular treatments. Kate regularly participates in further education so that she is always up to date with recent research in the field.

Dr. Tom McCormick (Osteopath)
Tom McCormick is a qualified Osteopath at Valued Health Osteopathy whose main goal is to get you moving well and pain free. The sayings ‘first move well, and then move often’ and ‘don’t add strength to dysfunction’ by Gray Cook are two factors that Tom heavily abides by.
Tom believes that it is important to address the immediate issues causing pain but feels it is equally, if not more important to improve his patient’s ongoing movement and strength in order to reduce the chance of reaggravation.
Since Tom graduated as an Osteopath he has worked in Queensland and Victoria within private practice and worked closely with sporting teams. Tom has completed further study in many fields to further advance in knowledge and skills.
Tom has suffered many injuries and complaints over the years due to his heavy interest in sport. From broken bones, tendon and muscle injuries to even a double hernia repair this is what lead Tom into the health field.
Here at Valued Health Osteopathy Tom will use his Osteopathic experience, coupled with his further training to assess and treat in order to get you moving better with less pain.
It is a requirement at Valued Health Osteopathy that all practitioners are registered with Osteopathy Australia (OA) and AHPRA.
